Lucys Journey

Devon Alt-Folk Singer-songwriter, Lucy started her journey with music from a very young age. It was the essence of music that kept her spirit alive. After years of different avenues into music, and 3 years of study at BIMM (BAhons), Lucy has now taken the reigns of her musical journey as she steps into a world of emotive mystery, reflecting upon her story and transforming them into songs that share of the beauty that life can bring even in the darkest of times.

Lucy was only 14 years of age when she found herself winning a talent competition at school named, The Axe Factor. This sparked a curiosity in Lucy to discover her musicianship as she went on to play open mics with her brother, Jack as accompaniment. As her journey progressed, so did her growth in accompaniment as she joined a 7-piece function band playing rock and pop covers in her local town at the time, Bournemouth.

Lucy’s late teens saw a decline in her mental health and although she was no longer performing, Lucy started to get singing lessons for the first time. This lasted for a few years before she finally decided to take matters into her hands and applied to study Professional Musicianship at BIMM, Brighton.

BIMM opened an array of opportunities for Lucy, allowing her to discover the true gifts of her voice, as well as specialising her studies with a more holistic approach in mind.

Lucy wrote her first song at 15, though it was during her time at BIMM that her creativity started to flourish. She formed a band, LUE and from this her expression started to expand.

Lucy wrote many songs before she connected her essence to her spiritual path. Writing is a way for her to remember who she is, each song has been a pivotal moment of healing for Lucy’s own journey and the power and presence that these songs brought to her felt like a gift from god itself. She knew they needed and wanted to be shared, and since has started recording and releasing them.

In the last 2 years, Lucy has released her Debut EP after working with Musician and Producer Michael Stanton and has more recently worked with producer Seb Brice (Indefra Studios) on her most recent singles ‘ocean Song,’ ‘Belong’ and Life Cycles. Ocean Song has received a positive response with over 10,000 streams on Spotify as well as praise from one of Lucy’s inspirations, Ayla Schafer who shared that ‘The song took her on a journey to her own inner ocean.

This year, Lucy has been in the studio recording new material with a promise of her first album to be released autumn 2023.
